Can I just say how happy I am to be part of you?
I’m happy to be a spec of glitter (or dirt, depending on how you feel about me) in the World of Warcraft community. It’s a nice place to be. Sure you have some drama and negativity here and there, but that’s everywhere you go. Drama Llamas and Negative Narwhals are around every corner. You know what else is around every corner? An opportunity.
There’s always an opportunity to move past the negativity around you. An opportunity to say “hey, you there with that dark cloud all around you… I’m dancing in the sunlight, not standing in your rain.” Around that corner is a yellow brick road. You have to choose whether you are going to keep heading down that road or if you are going to allow a bunch of monkeys to stop you.
I know I’m the new girl around here. I know some people think that makes it okay to act like I’m just a nobody passing through town. If you’re locking your doors and expecting me to leave, that’s fine, but let me tell you something about this ‘new girl.’
I’m a fighter. I’m as stubborn as they come. I’m nice to the point that it will make you sick and I will continue being a ray of damn sunshine around the worst of my enemies. I will always say what is on my mind. What comes out of my mouth or is smashed by my finger tips won’t always be pretty, mature, or correct, but the hell if it isn’t part of what makes me who I am. Most importantly, I know that everyone deserves to be treated as an equal no matter how high or low a pedestal one thinks they sit upon.
Why am I telling you this? Because you should have something positive to say about yourself. You should be prideful of who you are and the projects you’re involved in and you should never let anyone stand in the way of how you feel and what you do. However, you should never allow that pride to convince you that you are better than someone else. That mindset creates a cloud of negativity all around you that rains down on the people you believe you are hovering over.
Don’t be a rain cloud! Get back on that yellow brick road. Extend a hand to the guy who tripped and fell. Walk hand in hand with the girl who’s humming cheerfully as she strolls. You are not better or worse than them – You are them. We’re all here doing something we love in a community we are all happy to be part of. The only difference between us is how and at what speed we’re walking, and the bricks our feet are hitting along the way.
I’m happy to be part of this community and I’m not letting anyone take me down. Neither should you.
Love and Respect,
